Machine Vision for Manufacturing can be used in many applications such as Process Improvement, Quality Assurance, Automation, and Compliance. Additionally, Keox Technologies ensures that reliability and robustness is designed into the systems to maximize uptime.
Environment and safety applications are requiring machine vision to be more sophisticated. Keox Technologies developed systems and algorithms that enhance those uses.
Machine vision used in commercial and retail applications are becoming popular. This opens many unique and novel applications that Keox Techniques participate in.
Keox Technologies work with customers to design, program, and fabricate inspection and measurement systems that meet the needs of unique applications.
Keox upgraded an existing semiconductor chip handler equipment to inspect printing on chips. Because the challenge was that the pass / fail criteria for print quality can be somewhat subjective, traditional inspection systems could not be used due to high false pass and false fail results (ie. Type I and Type II errors). Keox Technologies’ solution was to use Deep Learning for inspection. Additionally, Keox’s system inspected for chip scratches and cracks.
Process upsets happen once in a while, but it doesn’t mean non-passable products are fabricated. Keox created an algorithm which takes into account these anomalies without increasing the reject rate.
A brick manufacturer needed to control clay color before firing. Because of the nature of the firing process, slight discoloration of the clay yields a considerable change in the final brick product. Therefore, Keox Technologies designed and installed a color measurement system which is both sensitive to color changes – accommodating changes in texturing – and having it operate in a dusty, industrial environment.
Profile of a very large surface needed to be measured quickly, on the order of one second. Keox proposed using deflectometry as the solution. Additionally, designing of the system includes enabling operators to be able enter the system to change samples quickly and safely.
A sheet metal fabricator needed to precisely control their powder coat coloring and therefore, needed a sensitive color measurement system for quality verification to their customers. Keox Technologies developed a system where a sensitivity of less than 1.0 DeltaE (CIE76) was achieved, where “shades of black” were distinctly measured. The system also provided feedback for process control.
A hand washing monitoring system was designed to inspect and log personnel adherence to World Health Organization (WHO) Hand Washing Procedures. Recognition of hand movements required deep learning techniques to accommodate different hand sizes and unique subtleties in hand movement.
With the COVID-19 Pandemic, screening of personnel health became of concern. Simplistic systems of just gathering the highest temperature within a scene yielded false alarms and became more of a nuisance. Keox Technologies added sophistication in measuring temperature at the correct location of personnel and of within a scene.
Keox Technologies developed the module for object recognition and pattern matching of products on store shelves. One challenge was that products could be presented in different poses to the camera array on the robot.
